   所以正确答案应该选择D.

（知道有归因于这个短语，但是猜不出是谁了。）
d 她 再次浏览自己的作文，以求排除所有的拼写错误。   
c 这些汽车被抛弃了，以为在雾里不能行使下去了。
c 新设计的圣诞邮票总是被等到keen xxx？(不知到具体含义)

The cars were ________ because it was impossible to go any further in the fog.  这是个复合句，主句是The cars were ________ ，后面是由because引导的原因状语从句，在这个从句中， it 是形式主语，真正的主语是后面的动词不定式 to go any further in the fog。句子没有问题。
